DNS Static Host Records

This article describes the DNS Static Host Records feature of the Datto Networking Appliance (DNA).

Description
The DNS Static Host Records feature allows an operator to specify an IP address to resolve for a given hostname when queried by an internal client on the LAN. In the networking field, this feature is sometimes called "DNS Host Override" or "DNS Static Host Mapping."
To access the Static Host Mapping card, log into the DNA web interface, and click Applications.
Once on the Applications page, click the DNS Static Host Records link. You will see the management card .

To add a mapping, click New Mapping, and configure the following settings:
- Hostname: Enter the fully-qualified hostname that you want to map to an IP address.
- IP Address: Enter the IP address that you want the hostname to resolve to. You can use any valid IP address.
To add another rule, click New Mapping. Once you have finished configuring the rule, click Save Changes. The DNA will apply the rule globally.
