Improving LTE failover signal quality and strength
Topic
This article describes steps you can take to improve the DNA's cellular signal quality and strength while minimizing signal interference.

Description
Signal quality and strength factors
A variety of environmental factors can influence the signal strength and signal quality for your DNA, including:
- Proximity to the cellular tower
- Physical barriers
- Competing signals
- Tower load
- Weather
Improving signal quality and strength
Applying the following best practices can help improve the DNA's LTE connection strength and quality:
-
Make sure the DNA has the latest firmware version.
-
Make sure the DNA's LTE paddles are attached and configured correctly.
-
Move the DNA to a side of the building closest to the carrier's cellular tower.
-
Move the DNA to a higher point in the building, on top of a shelf, etc.
-
Move the DNA closer to an exterior wall or window.
-
If placed in a server rack or metal cage, consider moving the DNA into the topmost slot or outside of the rack. The metal body of a server rack can block and deflect the cellular signal.
-
Avoid placing the DNA near any other electrical devices, wiring, or radio devices.
External antenna
If you go through these steps and are still experiencing signal quality and strength issues, you may want to investigate an external antenna as a potential solution. Move the DNA outside, if the device reports a better signal strength, an external antenna may be a viable option.
