Legacy Open Mesh: Monitoring Access Point Load
CloudTrax lists the processor load of each access point under the "Load/Memfree" column. The load value is a decimal value related to the utilization of the processor(s) over the last 5 minutes. For example a load value of 1.00 suggests 100% processor utilization of one processor.
In some cases load can exceed 1.00. In cases where there are multiple processors within the access point, extra work is done by the additional processors, so seeing loads over 1.00 may not be of concern. In single processor access points, seeing load greater than 1.00 suggests the processor is getting behind, and work is queuing up.
Some causes of high load could be related to:
- Roaming VLANs
- Heavy client utilization
- Throttling
- Network loops
Turning off advanced features such as Roaming VLANs, Application Reporting and throttling may help reduce CPU load.
