Installation considerations

  • The 2.5G ethernet port is PoE input only. Ports do not include PoE passthrough and are not able to supply PoE to other devices.

  • The AP840E WiFi-6 Access Point cannot be powered by passive PoE.

  • Passive 24V PoE is not supported on this device. Do not plug 24V PoE into the access point. Damage can result.

  • Le PoE passif 24V n’est pas pris en charge sur cet appareil. Ne branchez pas sur le systéme. Des dommages peuvent en résulter.

Surface mounting

You can mount the APAP840E on a wall or ceiling.

1. Install the flat side of the mounting plate on a wall or solid ceiling with the included drywall screws and anchors. Make sure the arrow on the mounting plate is pointing up.

2. Install the mounting plate screws into the access point.

3. Attach the antennas by rotating them clockwise onto the four threaded antenna posts. This access point supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz antennas.

4. Connect an Ethernet cable to the 2.5G Ethernet port, with a 802.3at PoE source. Wrap the grommet around

the Ethernet cable, then insert it into the port plug and install the port cover with the provided screws.

5. Align the mounting plate screws on the AP with the mount holes. Slide the AP down onto the mounting plate, then secure the access point with a security screw. Finally, attach a grounding cable (not Included).

Pole mounting

When pole mounting use maximum 1/2 inch-wide metal clamp cables (not included). Do not use plastic zip ties.

1. Install clamp cables through the slots on the mounting plate.

2. Repeat steps 2 through 5 from the surface mounting instructions above.

Cloud management

To connect your access point to Datto Network Manager, follow the instructions in the How to set up cloud management on Datto AP840 and Datto AP840E Access Points article.
